Metagen Enzyme’s current biocatalyst development focuses on 6 novel microbial enzymes. These include:

1) low-molecular weight mono-modular and processive endocellulases

• effectively hydrolyze crystalline and amorphous cellulose from raw and pre-treated biomass feedstock as well as feed materials

• crystalline cellulose being the beta-glycosidic bond linked glucose polymer component of the lignocellulose-based biomass materials

2) ligninolytic enzymes

• effectively degrade lignin

• lignin being the plant polyphenolic polymer component and affecting porosity of the lignocellulose-based biomass materials

3) hemicellulases

• break down hemicelluloses

• hemicelluloses being a group of heterogeneous polymer components of the lignocellulose-based biomass materials

4) pectinases

• break down pectin

• pectin being polymers of galacturonan of the lignocellulose-based biomass materials

5) mycotoxin degradation enzymes

• degrade or metabolize major mycotoxin metabolites

• mycotoxin metabolites being produced by fungal molds and toxic to animals and humans

6) alkaline phosphatases

• detoxify the endotoxin lipopolysaccharides (LPS) via dephosphorylation

• the endotoxin LPS being produced by Gram-negative bacteria and causing local and systemic inflammation via the toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) in animals and humans
